In order to appeal to the whole society to pay attention to the living conditions of coma patients, pay attention to and devote themselves to the development of the coma diagnosis and treatment, and guide patients' relatives to scientifically understand the coma, scientifically diagnose and make rational choices, on March 22nd, the department of rehabilitation medicine of the Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Provincial Hospital) and neurosurgery department jointly held a free clinic with the theme of "Awakening Hope".

At the event site, experts from rehabilitation medicine departments such as Fan Xiaohua, Wang Shengchun, Liang Zhou, Ning Liping, Tang Shaocan, Han Ke, Wang Chao and Ding Xinli, and experts from neurosurgery departments such as Zhang Liangwen and Xu Tongjiang seriously answered the drug treatment and rehabilitation of coma and chronic consciousness disorder of public concern, explained hyperbaric oxygen treatment and various nerve regulation treatment methods, and provided consultation, evaluation and rehabilitation nursing guidance for coma and consciousness disorder. More than 300 patients were treated on-site.

In recent years, with the improvement of the clinical treatment level, the mortality of various craniocerebral diseases has gradually decreased, but the incidence of consciousness disorder has obviously increased, which seriously affected the quality of life of patients, and increased the burden on their families and society. In 2020, “Chinese Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Consciousness Disorders” was promulgated, which standardizes the treatment process standards, enhances the effectiveness of wake-up treatment, conveys the correct academic ideas and the clinical techniques, and promotes the rapid progress in the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment of coma in China.
